Kia ora koutou
I hope you’ve all been enjoying this lovely weather; it is so lovely this time of year. Perfect for getting out and
being active, as I’m sure you all have!
I want to revisit your Cross Country practice this week, because all going to plan we will be doing this when we
get back to school. I hope you all followed some of the activities from the first guide I gave you. I want you to
try these again and see if you have improved on any of the times you have for running around the block, or if
you feel like it’s easier and you can run faster or longer.
Everyone’s development is different, and I don’t expect all of you to be amazing world-class Olympic athletes,
but noticing and congratulating yourself for any improvement you’ve made is really important. It doesn’t
matter how small. Sometimes it’s enough that you even try! So don’t be disappointed if you get puffed too
quickly or you get stitch, it happens to everybody sometimes.
I want you all to have fun, (and trust me I do know that running isn’t always the most enjoyable thing in the
world) and something that is rewarding and enjoyable is making goals and achieving them.
So, I want you to do that. Think of a distance that you have run before, long or short. I would like you to run it
the best you can. If you can have someone time you that would be great.
Write your time down somewhere, this is your goal, to go faster the next time.
Make sure you do some warm ups and stretches, to keep yourself safe from injury and at your best!
Did any of you manage to get out and practice some of your sports-based skills last week? It looks like Winter
Sports won’t be starting until at least Term 3, I will keep you updated about that.
In the meantime keep
practicing those basic skills, they will come in handy!
Have fun and keep safe

Ps. Sorry I didn’t make a video last week, I injured my back cleaning up milk that my kids spilt on the carpet.
Do you know why I injured myself??
Because I didn’t do any warmups and stretches!
