Tuesday - Treats for everyone! If you send me your math that is...

Ata mārie Class 5

Hope you had a good sleep last night. I don't know about you, but I am in a terrible routine of staying up late and then sleeping in, luckily I have no commute to get to school. On our daily walk today we saw some really cool painted rocks, I thought you'd like to see them too.

What's your favourite one? I quite like the grannies...

As you've probably guessed, today in the treehouse you have spelling, daily math and reading. Your subject lessons today are math and painting. We were meant to have Eurythmy today but due to some technical difficulties we weren't able to upload the video from Simone. We will try again another day, sorry, I know many of you will be missing it!

Spelling:
Today's task is to write your words into sentences. Check yesterday's post for the words if you haven't got them.

Daily math:
Well done to yesterday's speedy mathematicians Hans, Ciaran, Ocean, Blake, William, Briar, Sian, Sujan, Ari, CM who all got to make their own ice cream sundaes!
I've decided to give prizes to everyone who is answering the questions instead of first 5, some people are like me with habits of staying up late and sleeping in 😃

Today's question:

  1. A clock riddle:
  2. *EDIT - This is very tricky and a lot of people are finding it very challenging. Scroll to the bottom for answers!

A) Cathy said to her friend, “Fifteen minutes ago, it was twice as many minutes after 4 o’clock as it now before 5 o’clock.” What time was it when Cathy said that?

B) Andrew said to his friend, “half an hour ago, it was four times as many minutes after 7 o’clock as it is now before 8 o’clock.” What time was it when Andrew said that?

Reading:
Continue to read, and keep a record of what you are reading. Have you finished a book lately? Make a mini book review for it. If you've run out of books to read, see if you can find some old ones to reread or check out audio books, you can access them through the library, here's the link. I've added some filters to the search, you may wish to search for your favourite author or series instead.

Math:

Note for parents:
The purpose of this task is to help your child learn to recognise two-dimensional faces on three-dimensional shapes.
  • Maybe your family know of a toddler who has a toy like this, they have to figure out what shape fits through the hole.
  • Your child should write down their ideas about which shape fits (and why).
  • They will probably need to visualise the shapes in their mind and imagine putting them through the holes.
  • Consider making some play dough to make the shapes.
  • Encourage your child to talk with you about what they are doing, remember to ask questions that give them an opportunity to explain their maths thinking.

Painting:
Here's your chance to do anything creative, painting - if you have the equipment, drawing with pastels, coloured pencils or even a plain lead pencil, crafting, collage... Try painting or drawing an autumn leaf, or an acorn, or something else you have found in your garden.

Here's a water colour painting I did yesterday to inspire you...

Another idea, image supplied by my friend Jane...
What can you create with leaves?

Some work sent in by your classmates, well done, I'm so impressed with all your home learning! Keep up the great work team.

Aria has sent through photos of her wonderful creation, egg candles and an egg garden for Easter, as well as an incredible sunrise on Easter morning, stunning Aria 💛

That's all for us today, keep sending in your work, I love seeing it!
